What is a Pump?

A Pump is a mechanical device that transfers fluids (liquids or gases) from one location to another. There are many different types of pumps but mainly 2 that we have currently on our platform. 

Air Diaphragm Pumps 

An air diaphragm pump uses compressed air between two sides of the pump to operate. It is generally used to transfer liquids with low to high viscosities or liquids with solid contents. They are suitable to handle many aggressive chemicals like acid bases. 

Air Diaphragm pumps are utilised in many different applications such as mining, coatings, chemical processing, and general plant service. With its extreme versatility, it can handle most types of fluids. 

Additionally, they are suitable for places where electricity isn’t available, or in explosive or flammable areas. 

Electric Water Pumps 

Like an air diaphragm pump, an electric water pump transfers liquids from one place to another. However, an electric water pump uses a motor instead of compressed air to displace liquid. On a construction site, it is usually used to remove groundwater to prevent the site from flooding. 

They are designed to pump water containing sand, solids, and debris with minimal wear and clogging.

Some of the other applications of electric water pumps include cooling of systems, dewatering and filling of swimming pools, irrigation for agriculture, and cooling of an automotive.
