What is Tow Tractor?

Tow tractors are equipment commonly seen in warehouses for material handling. They are usually used for transporting raw materials, pallets and etc in warehouses. Other than using tow tractors for work in warehouses, tow tractors can also be used in locations such as airports for moving cargo and baggage as well as to pull out the aircraft when it is preparing to depart.

2 Types of Tow Tractors

Basically, we can categorize tow tractors into 2 different types which are Electric Tow Tractors and Diesel Tow Tractors.

1. Electric Tow Tractor

Electric Tow Tractors are mainly used in warehouses and typically are lower capacity compare to diesel type. The size of the equipment is also smaller than the diesel type. The common tugging capacity for electric tow tractors can be range from small size starting around 5 tons up to 25 tons. 

2. Diesel Tow Tractors

Different from electric tow tractors, diesel tow tractors are designed for outdoor usage to tow much large weight cargo. You can easily see the diesel tow tractors in the airport towing from the baggage trailer up to the aircraft. The towing capacity for diesel tow tractors ranges from 5ton and above.
